The inside story

We only use the finest mechanisms in our sofa beds and it is recognised that a two-fold slatted mechanism (picture a) allows us to use the most comfortable sprung mattress available. A two-fold action ensures that the mattress is only folded once rather than twice, as is the case on cheaper, inferior mechanisms.

Every mechanism is finished using hard wearing silver paint to ensure lifelong protection. The webbing at the foot end of the bed becomes the platform for the seating when in the closed position.

All our sofa beds (except Aztec and Pandora) are supplied with a fully sprung 13½ gauge mattress, with comfort layers of hypoallergenic bonded polyester in an attractive cover which is tufted to ensure maximum comfort and durability. For customers requiring further luxury, we offer an upgrade to a visco-elastic foam mattress (picture b). The top layer of sumptuous slow-recovery foam is encased in a soft knitted cover which can be easily unzipped and removed for cleaning.

New for this year, is a tufted pocket spring mattress (picture c) which is upholstered in a quality damask cover.

The Pandora has an air mattress (picture d) with electric pump included (picture e).
