The original pocketed springs

Our pocketed beds contain the original classic hand nested and hand sewn pocketed springs to provide long lasting comfort and durability. Unlike some companies we manufacture all our own pocket springs.

1 Reinforced support edging

All mattresses contain a flat strip edge and cross braces, with larger mattresses having corner braces as well, to provide a wider sleeping area and edge to edge support during the life of the mattress. Mattresses can be made to any metric size and are always delivered matching the divan exactly.

2 Belgian jacquard damask

Only exclusive designs of the highest quality are featured on Gainsborough Beds products. The ticking composition has been specifically developed for Gainsborough Beds so that whilst high presentation values have been kept, particular attention has been given to ensure a soft 'handle' is obtained in the final finishing process.

3 Hand tufting

This secures the mattress fillings and enhances the overall performance of the mattress. Tapes are individually secured through the mattress and held in place by either woollen or cotton rosettes.

4 Padded flag stitched handles

Flag stitching strengthens the handles, enabling heavier mattresses to be adjusted easily once on the divan base.

5 Traditional hand side stitching

This is one of the hallmarks of a quality bed and secures the border to the springs. This time consuming process allows a larger sleeping area right up to the edge.

5 Mattress Ventilators

These allow body moisture to be dispersed hygienically and rapidly.

6 Individual sleep support system

All double (135cm and above) divan bases for mattresses are produced so that the user lies on his own individual base. This avoids any roll together and ridging across the middle of the mattress where both partners lie and avoids movement when one person gets in or out of bed while the other is sleeping.
