Base options

Divan bases

The divan bases are constructed using hardwood castor/corner blocks. Divan base choices include, real edge, sprung edge, padded top and firm edge. We strongly recommend that all mattresses are sold with a complementary divan base to enhance the comfort and longevity of the divan set.

Individual sleep support system

Double divans are manufactured in two halves lengthways on all sizes except the 120cm size, to match the lying position of the user and avoid the transfer of weight movement during the night, particularly when one person gets in or out of bed while the other is sleeping. This also aids ease of access to the home and enhances presentation. The base moves easily on high quality matching castors.

Headboards

Gainsborough has its own range of exclusive headboards that coordinate perfectly with our bases.

All real edge, sprung edge and padded top divans, with or without drawers, are manufactured to a standard height of 39cm (15') allowing for the tolerances of hand tailoring and sewing.

Drawers

A sturdy drawer system is available with both larger and smaller continental drawers for ease of opening past bedside cabinets. The drawer fronts are padded and slide on self closing drawer runners.

Bedbases/divans on legs

Three bedbases are available, these being sprung edge, firm edge and hard top, all suitable for brass, metal and wooden bed frames. The bases can rest on side rails or be free standing on legs. The legs are available with castors, glides or neither. Sprung edge and firm edge divans are 178mm (7') with hard top divans being 128mm (5') deep.
